Volunteer with us

We hope that everyone visiting the Rec - be they human, animal, bird or insect - can have an enjoyable and rewarding time. As a volunteer, can you help us make it even better?  It's good fun, an opportunity to meet old friends and make new ones, and maybe share knowledge and skills. 

Through the year, many different groups lend a hand, often on special projects. Scouts, university students, geocachers and Southampton GoodGym have all supported the Friends in different ways,  Together all our volunteers help us to keep the Rec a great place to visit, and an important haven for wildlife.

• The Gardening group usually meet on Sunday mornings from Spring to Autumn as you can find out here.  Beyond routine weeding and tidying, every season sees new ventures with opportunity for planning and planting.  More details here.
• Lift & Shift Even if you have decidely un-green fingers but enjoy posing with a wheelbarrow and a broom, you're just the folks we need for our occasional clear-up sessions. When these are coming up, you'll find dates on the events page.
• Handyperson(s) - ideally with carpentry or general DIY skills, to help now and again build or fix things for us, for example the compost containers.
