About Friends of Portswood Rec.

Portswood Rec is a multiple use park, about 2 hectares, or 20,000 square metres in size. It is set in a high density residential area, accessed via Grosvenor Road, Brickfield Road or Kitchener Road. It has a securely fenced children’s play area, separate dog exercise area, a central open area for sport and events and is used by the local school for sports. There is a landscaped garden planted with native shrubs and plants to attract moths and butterflies. There are picnic benches close to the community garden.

Portswood Rec also has two all weather tennis courts which are free to use.

The Friends of Portswood Rec group was formed to continue the improvements to the Rec, by providing better access to safe recreation for all members of the community enhancing their lives through environmental and social development.
